Here's photos of some of my favorite astronomical objects:
The Sun; photographed
through a "hydrogen alpha" telescope.
This special type of telescope only lets light of a
particular wavelength (6,563 Angstroms) pass through its front lens,
thereby
enabling us to see the sun's surface!
